Sneak Peek!

Thanks again, Michelle, for hosting a portrait party! It was quite an adventure with all the soccer pictures going on at the same time, but it looks like the players managed to stay out of our pictures! Here's one of your family to tide you over while I edit the rest...

Did we get it??

So, photographing a family of 6 can be quite the challenge, but believe it or not I really enjoyed taking pictures of this family. Their kids were polite and friendly & a lot of fun. The three year old? He was a very typical three year old - fun! =) Thanks, kids, for being patient with me and little brother and sitting through the hundred or so pictures I took! Mom and Dad - I hope we captured one you're happy with.

A boy and his dog

Even though mom kept telling this little boy to put his tongue back in his mouth, I just LOVE this picture. He was cracking me up! I love my job!!

Don't Cry!

It's not too late! You still have time to schedule your family session in time for the holiday rush. Photos make the perfect gift for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list, and I make custom photo cards as well! Spaces are filling fast, so book your session now to save a spot for your family. I promise to make it as painless as possible!

Dogs are people too?

I have taken pictures with pets before, but not too many. I've learned that dogs are a lot like children. If you jump up and down, make funny noises and call their name out a lot they MIGHT just look at you. If they're in the mood. =) Actually, Jake did great for his pictures. Much better than your average two year old!

On Location with Ellie

I got to do a little "environmental portraitrue" recenetly ~ something a little new for me. Mom was a little stressed because Ellie wasn't her usual smiley self, but I still feel like we got some good shots & hope mom feels that way too!

All Grown Up

I'll admit it - I'm a sap. I was editing these pictures today and started getting all weepy. These kids were so polite & the family was so fun and easy to work with. I was very pleased with the way they turned out. You can really feel the closeness of their family. They made me smile. Why the tears? I guess I'm just thinking ahead to the future when I will have three teenagers (yikes!) and I'm just not ready to go there. Hug your babies. They grow fast and before you know it, they'll be respectable (hopefully!) young men and women.

Self Portrait

Got a new drop. Actually, I got three, but this is the one I like the best. Believe it or not, I was without my kids this morning before a shoot and had a few minutes to spare before I left. I took a few minutes to play around with my camera's self timer.

Picture Parties, Picture Parties, Havin' Fun at Picture Parties...

I had three portrait parties this past weekend... lots of fun pictures!! Editing is going well. I have two up, and one I'm still working on. Thanks for being patient with me!

Here's a fun gang of teachers who call themselves the "Footloose Team":

And here's one of my favorites from the batch I'm still editing. This precious little one was EVERYWHERE and wanted not much to do with me and my camera. We did finally get her to dance around though, and I capured this ~ which I love!

I love it when Mom brings props!

I love having a little something personal in your photos, so I'm always stoked when Mom brings props! This little man brought stuffed animals from his Jungle Bedroom and some awesome foliage for me to play with! So much fun!

Pixel Dust...

I've seen this done before by other photographers, so it's not really "new", but it's new to me. I finally had some pictures that I thought would look good with the effect... What do you think? Yea or Nay?

Swamped

The Fall Season is upon us! I've been super busy with orders, sessions, editing, etc. that I'm a little further behind than I like to be on getting proofs posted. I hope to have all of this week's sessions up by the end of the weekend. Until then, here are a few to tide you over...

Apple "Pic"-in Time

I know, it's corny. Apple Pics are up! I ended up with 8 sessions for my Autumn Apple Affair. These kids were SO cute! Here's a few of my favs. Be sure to visit my website to see the rest of them!

This was my first time to take pictures of this little princess, but I hope not the last! She was such a ham and totally had mommy and daddy wrapped around her fingers!

This is Jackson. Jackson is the first baby I've hit all the milestones with. I can't believe how FAST this year has gone. I'm sure mom and dad can't either. Today he was ALL smiles. SUCH a cutie!!

I know you so can't even see Jacob's face in this picture, but I think it's my favorite from his bunch. (Even though there were some PRETTY cute ones!) Jacob kept filling this basket up and dumping the apples on himself. It was too funny.

I love it when moms bring their own props! These kiddos brought caramel apples for everyone ~ even my girls. So very thoughtful, and the makings for cute, cute pics!

This beauty totally knew how to work the camera. Daddy better get that bat ready NOW!

Oh, I am so in love with this little man! He is so stinkin' adorable! If I had a little boy, I'd totally dress him like this ~ SO CUTE! Cole was totally into our photo session this time around ~ MUCH better than the last time I saw him where he wanted nothing to do with me!

Quick note to apple moms ~ if your child's picture isn't here, it's not because I didn't think they were precious. I'm just honoring the fact that you didn't sign a model release!

Family

This makes the third 4-generation picture I've done within the past couple months. This family was so easy to work with & they looked so sharp in their white and khaki! Thanks you guys, for being so much fun. I hope that you were able to get your steaks done before the rain hit!

Pick Your Favorite!

I have a new feature on my LOP web site. (Thanks Ben for setting up my poll script!) I am going to run a photo contest every two weeks using my favorite pictures from recent sessions. The winner will recieve a free 8x10 of the print. My first contest is already up - click HERE to vote! I'm already planning the next one... it's going to be cutie patooties in costume!

It's okay not to smile.

Photography is such a subjective thing. My husband thinks that in order to be a good picture, all body parts should be in the frame, you should be looking at the camera and smiling. I don't exactly agree. While I understand as a mom that those precious smiley pictures are wonderful, I like the serious pictures too... and the ones where they aren't looking at the camera... and tight, tight crops that accentuate features like those big baby blues. In fact, some of my favorite photos of my own children do not contain smiles.

This week I had the opportunity to photograph 6 toddlers (barely!) from a playgroup. Some of the moms were concerned that the babies weren't smiling, but I still feel like we got some nice shots...

Don't get me wrong. I'll work hard for the smiles. There's nothing more gratifying. But shots like these show children being children. Don't forget to document the "everyday" and not just the smiles.

Happy Harvest

Whew! What a weekend! Two of my wonderful customers, Paige and Lana, combined forces to have a huge portrait party event! I shot over 20 groups of cutie patooties this weekend!

There is no way I'm going to be able to select just a few favorites, and I still haven't even been able to go through all the pictures, but I just HAD to share this adorable picture of these two buds in their military gear!

These pictures just pull on my heartstrings because this precious little boy's Daddy is in Iraq. Can you just imagine what his proud Daddy will think of this picture?

Just the Girls

I had so much fun with this shoot. There were 4 generations of girls in this family, and they were all so much fun! Baby Emma was a DOLL ~ I don't think I could have gotten her to frown if I'd wanted to. She was perfectly content to sit wherever we put her and SMILE away! Everyone was laid back, relaxed, and open to whatever I suggested ~ which is always fun!

A few more....

Thanks again ladies! I hope you'll let me take pictures for you again when Emma turns ONE!
